Peter Schey
Peter Schey is the Executive Director of the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law and has a private law practice focusing on complex litigation cases. He was lead counsel in the Texas class action in which the United States Supreme Court declared unconstitutional excluding undocumented children from public schools. His lawsuits have resulted in all apprehended immigrants being given advisals of their legal rights, hundreds of thousands of immigrants being granted lawful status, and defeat of California’s Proposition 187. Mr. Schey also founded Casa Libre, a home for unaccompanied immigrant children in Los Angeles, and engages in legislative and administrative advocacy on issues impacting vulnerable indigent populations.
